Moran–Flavoured Tests with Nuisance Parameters: Examples

نویسنده

چکیده

In this paper I illustrate the use of general conditions, derived by Pinkse (1999), under which Moran–flavoured tests for spatial correlation and spatial cross–correlation have a limiting normal distribution in the presence of nuisance parameters in six frequently encountered spatial models. The conditions are weaker than those in related work by other authors and the class of nuisance parameter problems allowed is far broader. ∗Department of Economics, The University of British Columbia, 997-1873 East Mall, Vancouver, V6T 1Z1, Canada, [email protected]. †This research was financially supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Minimax Invariant Regret Solution to the N - Sample Slippage Problem

A minimax regret test is proposed for deciding whether one of N populations has slipped to the right of the rest, under the null hypothesis that all populations are identical. The problem is formulated as a multiple decision problem under uncertainty relative to a priori distribution of hypotheses and incomplete knowledge of probability distributions of observations. For the problem with nuisan...

Consistent Specification Testing with Nuisance Parameters Present Only under the Alternative

The nonparametric and the nuisance parameter approaches to consistently testing statistical models are both attempts to estimate topological measures of distance between a parametric and a nonparametric t, and neither dominates in experiments. This topological uniication allows us to greatly extend the nuisance parameter approach. How and why the nuisance parameter approach works and how it can...

On the Unified Method with Nuisance Parameters

In this paper we consider the problem of constructing confidence intervals in the presence of nuisance parameters. We discuss a generalization of the unified method of Feldman and Cousins (1998) with nuisance parameters. We demonstrate our method with several examples that arise frequently in High Energy Physics and Astronomy. We also discuss the hybrid resampling method of Chuang and Lai (1998...

Supplementary Material for “ Statistical Inference for Exploratory Data Analysis and Model Diagnostics ”

An issue in simulation-based statistical inference is that simulation requires a single distribution to sample from, whereas null hypotheses H0 of interest are always composite and hence cannot be simulated directly. The problem of composite null hypotheses is also called the problem of nuisance parameters. Examples of nuisance parameters are the following: In EDA, when the null hypothesis is i...

Generalized Likelihood Ratio Tests for Varying-Coefficient Models with Censored Data

In this paper, we extend the generalized likelihood ratio test to the varying-coefficient models with censored data. We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the proposed test and demonstrate that its limiting null distribution follows a 2  distribution, with the scale constant and the number of degree of freedom being independent of nuisance parameters or functions, which is called the wilks...
